Data Recovery software

Using: PC Inspector File Recovery
Free, tends to crash if more than 13 files saved at any one time. Files have to be renamed from '.CHK' extension to correct extension.

Others tried:
CardRecovery: looks best, but can only preview recovered data in trial version - €35 full version
Recuva: couldn't see lost files
Data Backup: couldn't see lost files
Pandora Recovery: couldn't see lost files
Data Backup: only Drive Dumper worked

stream ripper software

Using: Freecorder 4 toolbar, embedded in Firefox
Note: doesn't rip streamed media per se, but records what's being played through browser, so no difference between live stream and listen again (latter is a problem for a lot of stream rippers). Only used for recording audio

Others tried (none worked with listen again):
Audacity 1.3
Replay AV8
Replay Media Catcher 4
Replay Converter
Stream Transport
Free Audio Recorder

image capture software

Using: Snapshot

Printkey2000 good but cannot set up autosave

Others tried
MWSnap3 - kept getting jpg format errors when saving

HotRod Hayride Notes

Very likely to be mixed light over the weekend - so do peripheral activities such as shopping, art show, etc. when light poor

Next year arrive Friday a.m. (check about Thurs) - watch cars come in. A lot of cars left after soapbox, good move watching them go.

50D overexposing night images - check settings

Get S90 Powershot?

Take twilight rather than night shots at Pavilion - full night doesn't work so well, but midnight blue and sodium work well in twilight.

Arrived to early at oval, action didn't start 'til after midday, went on 'til after 4-ish. Aim to arrive 11-11.30 (bring beer!).

If light good, get up sat a.m. for photo run, breakfast at Sainsburys before heading to track.

Passing by Sainsburys on way to track, so bring minimum on Thurs Friday.

People watch through viewfinder

Work on standard set of views as per motorshows, check interiors

Check camera mode, and focussing mode.

Zoom images grainy

Should have done more of 'deluxe'. Should have taken more shots generally - used just over half memory space and only one set of batteries.

Get QR monopod, or maybe staff?

Wait. Make each shot count

No decent coffee on site, no beer at oval

Oval car park better photo op than camping fields

Dress appropriately and, if UK or Europe based bring appropriate motor, soapbox racer, or both
